I’m an experienced supervisor/have completed other supervision training, why do I need to complete prerequisites before I can enrol in QC4 (or QC12)?

The Learning Centre suite of supervision courses are designed and developed in a highly considered stepped pathway, covering very specific core values and learning outcomes not covered in training provided by other services. Each course is intrinsically linked, with skills, tools and models building with each of the courses completed in the pathway. View the supervision course relationships diagram for more information on the course pre-requisite pathway.

By completing the pre-requisites courses Supervisors become fully oriented to what is taught to the people they supervise. Supervisors can then be thoroughly prepared with the same toolkits and models as their supervisees, in turn achieving a compatible understanding about roles and functions. All parties can then engage in a supervisory relationship with greater confidence, applying techniques effectively in practice for enhanced outcomes.

All content aligns closely with current best practice models and supervision guidelines for Queensland Health Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Services.

Before enrolment in QC4 is accessible completion of QC60 Introduction to Supervision eLearning is required. A series of questions designed to assess that the relevant skills and experience has been acquired also requires a response.

Completion of QC8 Supervisee remains highly desirable for those seeking to gain a greater understanding of practice prior to enrolling in QC4.

Similarly QC12 Supervising Supervisor is not a stand-alone course and relies on prior knowledge acquired from prior attendance at QC4 (and the associated pre-requisites) plus relevant practice experience, before enrolling.
